We have many ideas for projects that will increase the vitality of Vale, Oregon. Project #1: Community Preschool Music Program FAVE wishes to create a Free Community Preschool Music Program for all preschool children living in the Vale School District boundaries. All children would be welcome at no cost, regardless of need, and the program curriculum is modeled on a Musicgarten-type curriculum, very successful worldwide. The curriculum teaches children about music through listening, singing, playing simple rhythm instruments, and movement. Parents are encouraged to participate. FAVE would provide the simple rhythm instruments for each student. Studies consistently show the younger a child is exposed to the arts, the better that child will perform later in school. Early exposure to the arts has even been linked to higher SAT/ACT scores in high school. Project #2: Community Fountain Renovation FAVE wishes to create an inviting green space in Lewin Memorial Park at the west end of town , starting with renovating the fountain. We hope to encourage people to call Vale home by fixing up public spaces. Travelers entering our city from the west would be more likely to stop and rest, enjoy a lunch, or plan a return trip to Vale, if it were more pleasing to the eye. Working together we can create a city that connects people with great public spaces, parks, plazas, and streetscapes.
